Wound Swab & Culture
for Infected Bedsores
For infected or non-healing bedsores, our team provides a complete diagnostic and treatment process — starting with wound swab sampling to ensure accurate, targeted care.
Step 1: Wound Swab Sample Collection
Our doctor or trained medical assistant will perform a sterile wound swab during the visit. This sample is sent to a certified laboratory to identify the type of bacteria or microorganisms present in the wound.
Step 2: Lab – Culture & Sensitivity
The lab performs a wound culture and sensitivity test, which reveals:
-
The type of organism causing the infection (e.g., Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas, etc.)
-
The most effective antibiotics for treatment (based on resistance profile)
This ensures that antibiotic therapy is precise and effective, especially in cases of chronic or recurrent infections.
Step 3: Debridement (If Needed)
If there is dead or infected tissue, our doctor may perform bedside debridement — a procedure to clean and remove unhealthy tissue, helping promote faster healing.
Step 4: Regular Dressing & Monitoring
Once treatment is initiated, we continue with regular wound dressing, progress monitoring, and further intervention if necessary.
